ALA MGS Scholarships

Participants who complete the American Legion Auxiliary Magnolia Girls State program in its entirety and finish in good standing will be eligible to apply for the scholarship opportunities listed below.

The availability and amount of scholarships are controlled by and may be modified by the institution. Please confirm the above information by contacting the specific institution.

In State University Scholarships

Mississippi State
University

$1,000 for one year only

Award Criteria
  • Must have a scholarship GPA of 3.0 and be an entering freshman
  • Entering freshmen who participated in MS Girls State
  • Submission of the General Scholarship Application​
  • Submission of MS Boys/Girls State Scholarship application found in the "Recommended" list under the "Opportunities" tab in the MSU scholarship portal
  • A copy of award certificate or letter from council leader must be uploaded into the MSU scholarship portal

University of Southern Mississippi

$2000 annual for 4 years

  • This application is for the Freshman Designation-Based Scholarship: Boys/Girls State Scholarship. Freshman designation-based scholarships are for students enrolling the fall semester immediately after high school graduation.
  • To be considered, you must be fully admitted to The University of Southern Mississippi by December 1 and complete and submit this application, including supporting documentation for designation-based award, by August 1.
  • Official documentation can include documentation verifying Boys/Girls State participation.

$1,000 for one year only
 
  • Eligibility: Entering freshmen who participated in Mississippi Boys State/Girls State
  • How to Apply: Provide documentation of status to the Office of Financial Aid at 662-915-1164.

In Session Scholarships

Throughout the week, delegates will have the opportunity to participate in activities that may receive a scholarship.

Delegates will learn more information about these opportunities during their orientation

These scholarships are provided by American Legion Auxiliary Units and American Legion Posts across the state.
